Thank you Toni, we’ve had a few lovely evenings looking through our photographs and we are absolutely thrilled with them, our parents are too!
It was an absolute pleasure to photograph at Oakwell Hall, the Elizabethan Manor House is an extremely historic and atmospheric wedding venue. Located within a 100 acres of green flag award winning Yorkshire countryside. I met with the bride and groom at the venue a couple of months prior to their wedding day and was absolutely blown away by the character and rustic feel. I just knew at that point it was going to be perfect for Hollie & James’ rustic barn wedding.
Wedding preparations started on a gorgeous spring morning with Hollie and her bridesmaids at the Gomersal Park Hotel which is perfectly situated only 2 minutes drive from the country park. The girls were sipping Prosecco whilst being pampered with hair and make up for the celebrations.
One of my favourite photographs from the morning of the wedding was Hollie’s Dads reaction as he saw her in her wedding dress for the first time. He placed his hands over his head in pure admiration of how beautiful his daughter looked on her special day. It’s so lovely for me to be able to document such raw emotion on a wedding day that I know will mean so much as it triggers memories in time to come.
Great Hall Wedding Ceremony
The grand windows, high ceilings and oak beams make this room the perfect location for a grand civil ceremony. I just love the way the directional light pours in through the windows, making for perfectly dramatic wedding photographs while you say “I do”. The guests are seated in wooden chairs perfectly complimenting the character and feel of the Great Hall, waiting patiently for the brides arrival. Hollie’s elegant silk wedding dress suited the venue just perfectly, she floated down the aisle like an angel. Commanding the attention of the room.
Beautifully Restored Walled Garden
The perfectly manicured and well kept gardens at Oakwell Hall are the best place to host your drinks reception. The weather in the Spring was beautifully sunny which made all the flowers glow in the wind. I love capturing wedding moments during the drinks reception. The wedding guests are always really excited to congratulate the bride and groom on their new commitment. The backdrop of the gardens make for beautiful photographs during this time.
As the wedding guests made their way over to the rustic barn I took Hollie and James for a wander around the country park to create some beautiful imagery of the gorgeous Yorkshire countryside. It was so lovely for the couple to step away and experience some “alone time” to really take in the day in the gorgeous Yorkshire countryside.
Rustic Barn Wedding Reception
The Grade II listed Barn is the most amazing blank canvas for a rustic wedding reception. Hollie and James spent a number of hours making this space look welcoming and personal for their wedding guests to enjoy the wedding celebrations. The tables were in a banqueting arrangement allowing guests to converse easily. The barn walls dressed with bunting and photographs throughout the years all personally chosen. The evening reception with live music featured guests dancing and singing late into the night in what really is a gorgeous space for a wedding reception.
