As the dark nights draw cold and the fires are roaring I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for me to share this beautiful snowy wedding from earlier this year at the heart warming Rivington Hall Barn in Lancashire. Rivington Hall Barn must be one of the largest barn wedding venues in the North West which is great if you want to invite all your friends and family along to party the night away. Elizabeth and Peter did just that, but first I’ll give you the back story.

I’ve known the groom for a number of years ago now. We used to attend the same Sailing Club! Random I know. I used to go sailing every weekend, mainly on Sundays. I didn’t take it too seriously but I was in charge of my own boat which now just seems ridiculous. I knew nothing about the wind direction and I probably couldn’t tell you which side was Port and which was Starboard. (I’ve just googled it, Right is Starboard!).

It must have been after I left the sailing club when my weekends became increasingly occupied by weddings that these love birds met. How romantic is this… The bride and groom met on a sailing boat, when he was teaching her how to sail. It’s like something out of a film isn’t it! Fast forward a few years to the summer of 2017 and I was delighted to meet them both to discuss their wedding plans. I remember talking through the plans of their winter wedding and Elizabeth saying how much she loved the snow and how awesome would it be if the ground was glistening with the white fluffy stuff (as appose the the slush that disappears as the sun rises).

This brings me to their wedding day in March of 2018. I know we tend to get snow later every year but I doubt that anyone would have predicted the snow storms leading up to their wedding day, it was incredible. The snow not only had covered the ground in most areas for the week prior but it was so cold it was here to stay! I have to say that Rivington Hall Barn just looked so magical in this season. I don’t think they could have wished for a more perfect day, it was cold and crisp, albeit a little windy but the sun was out and proud too.
