5 Reasons why I love photographing weddings at Mitton Hall
Mitton Hall has an excellent reputation amongst wedding suppliers as being one of the best venues to work at and I couldn’t agree more. Here’s why;
It’s a beautiful wedding venue in every season
This gorgeous venue is extremely photogenic, both inside and outside. This makes it an ideal choice for weddings regardless of the season or the weather. I’ve photographed some amazing weddings in many different months of the year and I’ve always been blown away by the endless opportunities for amazing photographs.
The gardens are ever changing through the seasons and the charming interior is perfect for more romantic dramatic evening portraits.
It’s the perfect mix of modern and traditional
If you’ve had the pleasure of visiting this stunning space you’ll have noticed the perfect combination of old and new. The gorgeous Main Hall with the roaring fire is warm, cosy and comforting. Making it a great space for an intimate drinks reception or an area to retreat and chill in the evening for a quieter space to end the night.
The conservatory is a light and airy modern ceremony space, I just love the way the light floods in across the room from the many windows. This is great for your wedding ceremony at Mitton Hall. It also means you have a gorgeous backdrop of the gardens for your wedding breakfast.
Mitton Hall Weddings
I absolutely LOVE Mitton Hall. It is such a fantastic wedding venue for so many reasons. It is also one of Lancashire’s most popular country house venues and as soon as you visit, it is not hard to see why.
I can still remember the first time I visited Mitton Hall, I was absolutely blown away. Everything about this magnificent 15th century manor is perfect, from the beautiful exterior to the warm, cosy and romantic feeling of the Main Hall. Not to mention the gorgeous gardens at the back of the building with stunning countryside views across the Ribble Valley.
The ambience and atmosphere at Mitton Hall is always one of peacefulness and relaxation. Its location, near Whalley in Lancashire, is so nice too. I may be a little biased as I only live 10 minutes away and I’m a Lancashire girl myself, but I just love this part of the world.
Toni, we cannot say a big enough thank you, we absolutely love the photos. You really have captured the day and fun. You were absolutely fantastic and we are so so thrilled with the photos. HUGE thank you, you really are a talented photographer xx
Picture perfect locations for your wedding photographs at Mitton Hall
There’s too much to talk about if I’m honest. It’s an absolute dream photographing weddings at Mitton Hall because every time you visit it looks so different. The gardens are ever changing throughout the seasons of the year. In the Spring and Summer you have all the gorgeous blooms but in the Autumn and the winter you have all the warm and cosy colours.
I love photographing the Great Hall because it has such a charming atmosphere with the fire on all year round it feels so magical. Then you have the beautiful stained glass windows across the rickety balcony and the magnificent chandelier just lights the room perfectly.
Another favourite spot of mine is the entrance to the reception room and conservatory, the way the light falls off the archway is so romantically flattering and just looks stunning.

The Gardens at Mitton Hall
The gardens at the back of the venue are beautiful and the perfect setting for romantic photographs of bride and grooms. My favourite part of the gardens is the little woodland area, which for couples wanting rustic wedding photographs is absolutely perfect. The sun also sets perfectly over the gardens so for newlyweds lucky enough to get a colourful sunset on their wedding day, their evening photographs can be stunning.
One of the reasons that Mitton Hall is so highly regarded is because it is owned by James Place, who also own a number of other fantastic venues across Lancashire. Working at any James Place venue is always a pleasure because their staff are always so helpful, not just to their bride and grooms, but also to the wedding suppliers as well. The staff at Mitton Hall always work closely with the suppliers, such as myself, to ensure that every wedding day is perfect.
The Great Hall
The main hall and huge chandelier is great for indoor group shots and bride and groom portraits, whilst the main wedding reception room looks absolutely stunning when set up and dressed for a wedding. This room was redeveloped a couple of years ago and it is now one of the best reception rooms I have seen at any venue, with a huge amount of natural light, a wedding photographer’s dream. The views from the room are exceptional too, you feel as though you’re in the middle of endless countryside. It all feels so peaceful. What better when taking to the dance floor for the first time as man and wife than all your friends and family on one side and view stretching over the Ribble Valley on the other? It really is an amazing setting.
