PRESTON REGISTER OFFICE

A handful of people who matter most, a city venue, a ceremony that’s done by lunchtime and feels better than anything you could have planned for a year.

If you’re getting married at Preston Register Office, whether that’s an elopement, an intimate wedding, or a straightforward legal ceremony — this page is for you.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GETTING MARRIED AT THE PRESTON REGISTER OFFICE.

Preston Register Office sits on Bow Lane in the heart of the city. A short walk from the train station, close to the Avenham and Miller Parks, and surrounded by the kind of Victorian architecture that makes a photographer very happy.

The ceremony room is the Lancashire Rose Suite. It seats up to 74 guests and has full disabled access, so it works for intimate ceremonies of just two and for larger gatherings alike.

There’s a walled garden area adjacent to the office. A lovely quiet spot for your first photographs as a married couple before the city opens up around you.

Ceremonies run Monday to Sunday. Weekday mornings are the quietest, and Friday and Saturday evenings extend to 7pm if you’d like the later light.

The address for navigation is: Lancashire Rose Suite, Bow Lane, Preston, Lancashire, PR1 8RL.

reasons to choose me as your preston register office photographer

The ceremony is over before it’s begun, the light shifts, and before you’ve exhaled you’re standing outside on the pavement wondering what just happened. You need a photographer who reads a room, moves fast, and doesn’t ask you to stand against a wall for twenty minutes while the moment passes.
That’s the approach. I arrive before you do, learn the light in the Lancashire Rose Suite, and spend the day close enough to catch everything without either of you ever feeling watched. The portraits we make in the city afterwards, in the parks, around the streets, against the sandstone buildings, those are your exhale. That’s the moment when it sinks in.
There are no rigid shot lists. No awkward family lineup that takes longer than the ceremony. Just honest, editorial photography that gives you back the day exactly as it felt.

REASONS TO HAVE A PRESTON REGISTER OFFICE WEDDING

Bride and grooms feet as they are walking through Leeds City Centre wearing trainers with their wedding attire

THE SETTING

CEREMONY

A proper ceremony room. 74 seats, natural light, and a registrar who takes it seriously. There’s something about the simplicity of a register office ceremony, the vows stripped back, nothing in the way, that makes it feel more significant, not less. The walled garden outside is quiet enough for your first few frames together before the city calls.

THE LOCATION

CITY

Bow Lane puts you minutes from Avenham and Miller Parks, the Victorian grandeur of Sessions House, the warm sandstone of the city streets. Preston has 770 listed buildings. You are not short of backdrops. The city has a particular quality in the middle of the morning, unhurried, warm, full of corners that nobody photographs. That’s where we’ll be.

PORTRAIT READY

BACKDROP

Preston is often underestimated as a location for portraits. The city has a warmth to its architecture, Victorian sandstone, Victorian arcades, grand civic buildings that look like they were made for editorial photography. Avenham Park’s lawns, the river walk, and the Miller Arcade with its Burlington-inspired interiors, and you have an hour’s worth of completely varied backdrops within ten minutes of the register office. Just the two of you and a city that’s quietly showing off.

READY TO

PARTY

Some couples go straight to a long lunch at a good restaurant. Others have booked an evening back home in the Ribble Valley or the Trough of Bowland. A few have headed to a bar in the city and called it a day. There are no rules. A register office wedding keeps the ceremony clean and leaves the rest of the day entirely yours.

HONEST, CONSIDERED
& ELEGANT.

For couples who know exactly what they want.

Preston Register Office weddings have a particular kind of energy. The ceremony holds the weight. The city takes over after. There’s no fluff, no filler, just two people making it official in a room built for exactly that purpose, and then the whole afternoon opening up in front of them. That’s a lot to photograph. It’s also a lot to be part of.

Hey, I’m Toni. I love old photographs, the kind with crumpled edges that your grandparents would dig out on a rainy day. I love that they would always know the full story hidden within every single one. I have an obsession with polaroids and real film, giving me that feeling where one memory could live a life of it’s own.
