ACCRINGTON REGISTER OFFICE
A handful of the people you love most and a room that holds what actually matters. If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place.
Accrington Register Office sits inside The Mechanics Institute, with a ceremony room that’s bright, accessible and genuinely lovely for a small wedding, with close family, a legal-only elopement or simply a day that’s yours and no one else’s.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GETTING MARRIED AT THE MECHANICS INSTITUTE, WILLOW STREET.
Accrington Register Office is housed in The Mechanics Institute. A beautifully renovated Victorian building with roots going back to 1878.
The ceremony room sits on the ground floor, bright and welcoming, and can seat up to 50 guests. It’s a space that holds an intimate wedding without swallowing it.
The address is The Mechanics Institute, Willow Street, Accrington, Lancashire, BB5 1LP. There’s no parking on site, but the Arndale Centre is close by, and the town centre is easy to navigate on foot, which works in your favour if you’re planning portraits nearby after the ceremony.
To book your ceremony, contact the register office directly on 0300 123 6705 or at Accrington.Registrars@lancashire.gov.uk. Reserve your ceremony date before giving notice as they’ll hold it for you while the paperwork follows.

PERFECT.
reasons to choose me as your accrington register office photographer
I don’t treat small weddings as small jobs. I show up with the same intention I bring to a full day at a country house. Why? Because the light through that ceremony room window matters, the look between you when the registrar says those words matters, the exhale on the pavement outside afterwards matters. These are the photographs you’ll reach for first.
My approach is editorial at its core. I disappear into the background and let the day happen around me. But I’m also there to make sure you have portraits you actually love. Not forced poses. Not awkward smiles. Just you two, somewhere beautiful, a little while after you got married.

REASONS TO HAVE A ACCRINGTON REGISTER OFFICE WEDDING

THE SETTING
CEREMONY
The ceremony room at The Mechanics Institute seats up to 50 guests, enough for everyone who truly counts, not so many that you spend the day managing a crowd.
Ground floor, fully accessible, and full of natural light. It’s a genuinely lovely space for a civil marriage or civil partnership.
THE LOCATION
CENTRAL
Accrington isn’t a backdrop. It’s a place with history, Victorian architecture, and a town centre that photographs beautifully when you know where to look. Oakhill Park is minutes away. Haworth Art Gallery is around the corner. The Coppice offers woodland and elevated Pennine views for something more dramatic. There’s more here than you might expect.
PORTRAIT READY
BACKDROP
After the ceremony, you’ll want to stop. Take a breath. Look at each other. That’s when the portraits happen and in Accrington, there’s no shortage of places to do them properly. Victorian brickwork, open parkland, woodland, Pennine views. We won’t go far, but we’ll find something that’s genuinely yours.

READY TO
PARTY
After the ceremony, the day is yours to shape. Haworth Art Gallery offers an intimate licensed reception in a Grade II listed Edwardian mansion with 9 acres of parkland. Sparth House in Clayton-le-Moors is a Georgian manor for those wanting something more expansive. Accrington Town Hall hosts ceremonies and receptions in its own right. However you want to continue the day, there are options right on your doorstep.

Saturday – from £400
Sunday & bank holidays – from £450
You’ll also pay the statutory notice fee (currently set by the General Register Office) when you give notice of your marriage or civil partnership.

Civil ceremonies at Accrington Register Office typically run for around 20–30 minutes. You can choose your own music and personalise your vows within the civil ceremony framework — the registrar will guide you through what’s allowed when you meet to go through the details.
As for photography, I offer bespoke packages for register office weddings rather than a one-size approach. Some couples want two hours covering the ceremony and portraits. Others want a half-day that includes getting ready and ends with drinks somewhere. Get in touch and we’ll work out what makes sense for your day.

INTIMATE, HONEST
&YOURS.
This is what a registry office wedding in Lancashire actually looks like.
There’s a particular kind of quiet that comes with a register office wedding. No running order pinned to a board in the hallway. No table plan to finalise. Just the two of you, the people you chose to have there, and the words that actually matter. That quiet is worth photographing — and it’s what I’m here for.

Accrington has its own train station on the East Lancashire line, making it straightforward to reach from Manchester, Preston and Blackburn without a car. Public transport works well for a town centre ceremony.

Hey, I’m Toni. I love old photographs, the kind with crumpled edges that your grandparents would dig out on a rainy day. I love that they would always know the full story hidden within every single one. I have an obsession with polaroids and real film, giving me that feeling where one memory could live a life of it’s own.
