BAKEWELL TOWN HALL
Do you want this? A Victorian town hall in the heart of the Peak District, the person you love most, and the rest of the afternoon completely yours.
Whether you’re planning an intimate ceremony with close family, a legal-only elopement, or a small celebration that fits exactly who you are, a Bakewell Town Hall wedding is one of the most quietly beautiful ways to get married in England.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GETTING MARRIED AT BAKWELL TOWN HALL
Bakewell Town Hall sits on Anchor Street a pride place in the centre. A Gothic Revival building in ashlar stone, built in 1890, right in the centre of one of the Peak District’s most loved towns. The registrars are based on-site, and the building has three ceremony rooms to choose from.
For the most intimate weddings — just a handful of witnesses and each other — the Council Chamber is everything. Two large stained glass windows flood the room with light, grand oak furniture lines the walls, and the whole space seats up to ten. It’s the kind of room that doesn’t need flowers to feel special.
If you’re inviting a few more people, the Court Room Gallery holds up to 60 seated guests. And for larger celebrations, the Assembly Room Theatre accommodates up to 110 — with a stage and original sprung dance floor, so the reception can happen right there if you want it to.
The Town Hall address is: Bakewell Town Hall, Anchor Street, Bakewell, DE45 1BW. To book your ceremony, contact the registrars at bakewell.registrars@derbyshire.gov.uk or call 01629 535261.

reasons to choose me as your bakewell town hall photographer
Town Hall weddings have a specific energy , quick, intentional, a little electric – and my job is to stay inside that energy rather than interrupt it.
The couples who tend to book me for town hall weddings already know what they want. They’ve got good taste, they’re not interested in a fuss and they want photographs that actually look like them. If that’s you, we’re going to get on very well.

REASONS TO HAVE A BAKEWELL REGISTRY OFFICE WEDDING

THE SETTING
CEREMONY
Bakewell Town Hall was built to be impressive and 130 years on, it still is. The stained glass, the oak, the stone. You don’t need much else. A civil ceremony here is simple in the best way: the legal words, the rings, the people who matter most. No filler. No excess. Just the moment, in a room that holds it properly.
THE LOCATION
CITY CENTRE
Bakewell sits in the heart of the White Peak limestone valleys, ancient estates, moorland edges all around. Walk out of the ceremony and you’re already somewhere beautiful. The River Wye runs through the town. Haddon Hall is ten minutes away. Chatsworth is fifteen. The landscape doesn’t feel like a backdrop. It feels like a participant.
READY TO
PARTY
The formalities done, the rest of the day is yours. Thornbridge Tap Room for craft beer and pizza. The Peacock at Rowsley for something more refined. Or hire the Assembly Room right there in the Town Hall and stay until midnight. The Peak District has brilliant options at every level and none of them feel like a wedding industry package.

PHOTO READY
BACKDROP
You don’t have to go far for something extraordinary in th Peak District, but if you want to, the options are genuinely some of the most beautiful in England. An hour of portraits in this landscape will produce images that feel nothing like “Town Hall wedding photography.” They’ll feel cinematic. Because they will be.

THE BEST PHOTO LOCATIONS FOR BAKEWELL TOWN HALL WEDDINGS
Bakewell Town & the River Wye are minutes walk from the Town Hall and the medieval five-arch bridge is one of the oldest structures in Derbyshire. The old town with stone cottages, window boxes, narrow lanes photographs beautifully in any season. This is the obvious starting point: low-effort, high return, and it means your guests can walk with you.
Curbar Edge is ten minutes by car from Bakewell, it’s one of the most dramatic viewpoints in the Peak District. Flat gritstone edges, vast sky, the Hope Valley dropping away below you. It’s windswept and cinematic in all weather. I’ve seen portraits here in sharp autumn light and heavy summer cloud, and both look exactly right. If you want something that reads as genuinely expansive, this is the place.
Haddon Hall is one of England’s great medieval manor houses sits just two miles from Bakewell. Even from the outside, the location is perched above the River Wye, surrounded by terraced gardens which provides an extraordinary frame for portraits. If you’re planning ahead and want to arrange access for photography, it’s worth asking directly. The lane and grounds nearby offer brilliant natural light regardless.
Chatsworth Park surrounding Chatsworth House is open year-round and free to walk. The scale of it with rolling grassland, ancient trees, the river, it makes for portraits that feel quietly grand without being formal. Many couples choose to walk here after a ceremony, with a small group or just the two of them, and the late afternoon light in that valley is particularly remarkable.

“TONI WE don’t know how you do it. IN SUCH A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME YOU HAVE CAPTURED OUR TRUE SELVES SO PERFECTLY”

QUESTIONS
Hey, I’m Toni. I love old photographs, the kind with crumpled edges that your grandparents would dig out on a rainy day. I love that they would always know the full story hidden within every single one. I have an obsession with polaroids and real film, giving me that feeling where one memory could live a life of it’s own.
