why do wedding albums really matter?


The screen doesn’t do it. You’ve seen your gallery, you’ve loved it. The moment an image moves from light to paper, something shifts. The texture of it. The weight of it in your hands. The way a photograph taken in golden light looks entirely different when it’s printed on a lay-flat page than when it’s glowing from a phone screen at 11pm.

Albums aren’t what they used to be. No more carrying a dusty hardback down from the loft once a decade. The albums I work with are designed to live on coffee tables, to be picked up, passed round, returned to. Luxury leather and faux leather covers. a true story.

A couple I photographed in 2014 got in touch a while back. They’d changed computers. New devices, new software, a new house. The kind of life admin that slowly swallows things. Their wedding photographs were gone.

“Hey Toni, I hope you are well. I know this is a bit of a long shot but do you have a copy of our wedding photographs still? We’ve changed computers and I can’t find them anywhere.”

This was before cloud storage. This was CD era. Thankfully, I still have every single wedding photograph I’ve ever taken and I was able to help them. But the reality is, I might not always be here to save the day.

Digital files get lost. Hard drives fail. Cloud subscriptions lapse. A physical album cannot be accidentally deleted, cannot be corrupted, cannot disappear behind a forgotten password. It’s the one format that doesn’t ask anything of you, it just exists, exactly as it should.

There’s a reason your grandmother’s wedding album is still in near-perfect condition fifty years later. Print is permanent in a way that pixels simply aren’t. The weight of the paper. The texture of the cover. The way a page turn feels completely different to a swipe.

THE ALBUM DESIGN PROCESS

It starts with a call, no pressure, just a conversation about what you’re drawn to, how you want to use your album and which collection feels right. From there:

  • We talk through the collections, sizes, and cover options so you can make a decision that feels entirely yours.
  • Choose up to 50 photographs from your online gallery that absolutely must be in your album. These become the anchor of your design.
  • I build the album around your favourites, telling the story of your day in sequence. You’ll receive the full design for review, with three rounds of changes included, so we get it exactly right.
  • You’ll choose your cover material and decide on any text debossing or engraving for the front.
  • The album goes to print and arrives with you, beautifully presented and ready to live on your coffee table.

QUESTIONS

The album design process takes 7-10 days. The hardest part will be for you to select your favourite images to be included in the design. If you would like to make any changes to the design, each round of changes takes 3-4 days.

Once your final album design has been signed off your album design will be sent to print. The printing process takes around 10 days and delivery takes 2-4. The total time is usually around 2 weeks.

The full album design including 3 rounds of changes to make sure we get your design perfect for you. Your album box, all the cover options and front cover text is all included. The only way your price will change is if you wish to change the size or add any extra pages to your album design.
