Rustic DIY outdoor wedding in the woods
There is something magical about a Teepee Wedding. How can a canvas tent look so beautiful? But it does! All the fairy lights and shaped doors make teepees feel so unique. What’s more you can make them so personal to you. That’s exactly what Sarah and Gavin did for their wedding in Sarah’s parent’s garden. By garden I mean wood. An actual wood as in woodland. A pretty little Teepee hidden in the woods, all lit by fairy lights. Magical really doesn’t cover it.
This gorgeous bride and groom didn’t marry until late in the afternoon. Therefore my day started by meeting the guys for a round of golf in the morning, so much fun! Mainly because they spent more time in the bunkers rather than on the course! Sorry guys, ha ha ha.
After taking photographs of the golf, I made my way over to Sarah, who was getting ready in her family home in Kington with her gorgeous little flower girls. It was so peaceful and calm. I have to say Sarah, your wedding dress was absolutely stunning. Accompanied by one of the most delicate veils, it looked beyond divine – even on the hanger.
The afternoon of pampering was so relaxed. Maybe it was because there wasn’t far to go to St James’ church where the wedding ceremony was being held. It was literally across the road from the house. It was the cutest church I have even seen, it only seated approximately 50 guests but that made everything feel so cosy and intimate. The wedding guests who weren’t able to fit in the church listened to the ceremony from the outside.
Sarah and Gavin couldn’t have asked for better weather for the summer teepee wedding. The sun didn’t stop shining all day. This was perfect as after the ceremony all the guests enjoyed drinks and canapés on the lawn.
Stunning personalised teepee
After the drinks reception everyone made the short walk down to ‘Birthday wood’ where the teepee was superbly situated amongst all the trees. This was the Teepee of all teepees! Complete with a roaring open fire in the middle and fairy lights dotted throughout. It was completely personalised by the bride and groom with masses of flowers, handmade decorations, drinks galore and little flower pot favours. It looked absolutely beautiful. For couples looking for a different and more unique wedding venue for a rustic wedding, a teepee like this really is a fantastic option.
One of my favourite parts of the day in the summer months is golden hour. It’s the hour before sunset where the sun is lower in the sky which gives it a rich glow. I pulled Sarah and Gavin away from their guests after dinner for a little wander into the gorgeous sunset. Totally adding to their fairytale wedding day.
Sarah and Gavin have totally infectious personalities, they are just amazing together. It’s hardly surprising that their smiles and laughter was reflected throughout the entire wedding party. Everyone had the best time. It was a genuine pleasure to photograph all the little moments and tell the unique story of their wedding day in pictures.
Wow, absolutely incredible photography Toni! Great details (I love the shoe and dress shot through the door), perfectly captured moments (the gingerbread man!) and beautiful portraits. You’re so talented :-)
