What happens if it rains on your wedding day?
It might. Especially if you’re getting married in the winter months. But let’s face it, in England, even in the middle of summer there’s a chance it might rain. There is no getting around it and there’s no point in me pretending every wedding day has the most perfect weather. The obvious options are buy some umbrella’s or have a plan B, but my advice would be this… Don’t worry yourself about it! Trust me when I say this – It NEVER rains all day!

How to stop worrying about the potential of bad weather on your wedding day
My first advice would be, don’t even think about what the weather is going to be like. Hard to do I know but honestly don’t worry yourself. On the run up to your wedding you’ll have so much to think about and added little pressures that you might not have thought of so why worry yourself about something that’s completely out of your control.
Instead ask yourself this…
Is it going to stop you having the most incredible and most memorable day celebrating with your family and friends? – Absolutely not!
When I first started as a professional wedding photographer I would be frantically worrying and checking the forecast as I know most my brides will have done on the run up to their special day. Naturally everyone wants the perfect day and I wanted that too for my couples. I could but myself in their shoes, I understand, I’ve got that hair type that loves going all curly in the rain too, and not in a good way, ha ha.
I’m going to let you into a little secret. It NEVER rains all day. Literally never. I don’t even know how many weddings I’ve photographed to date but I’m being very honest with you now when I say it has never ever rained all day. My mum thinks I’m a lucky charm and that I bring the sun to all my weddings. Even the most gloomy of morning’s can turn out to be one of the most glorious of afternoons!
The advantage of rain on your wedding day
You think I’m mental. I’m not. If it does rain on your wedding day you have the potential of capturing some incredible portraits that would literally not be possible without the rain! These portraits below were taken in the rain in minutes. So you don’t even need to risk getting wet, hair getting frizzy or your dress getting soaked to have magical photographs. In fact some of these were taken from under a porch or sheltered roof so only myself and my flashes are the ones getting wet and let’s face it if my hair gets all frizzy, who cares.

Creative wedding portraits indoors
That’s not all I’m going to offer you. I’m a lover of the dark side and regardless of the weather I will always push my creativity to the absolute max. I never see the wet weather to be limiting in terms of creating awesome portraits on your special day. It’s a chance for me to get really creative indoors and find mind blowing images beyond the obvious. I’m so lucky that my couples trust me and eyes to find stunning photographs that are completely unique.
So my advice to you is don’t worry about the weather and embrace it! It wont stop you from having the most incredible day celebrating with your family and friends!
